Assilzhan Abutalip is from Kazakhstan, from South Kazakhstan Region. Master of Science in Social Work, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, 2023 (programme 7M11405 "Social Work").

He has worked in social services since 2021. In Astana he coordinated support for 300 children with disabilities (the Astana Society of Children with Disabilities, a public association), was a consultant on the «Жаңа мүмкіндік» project and a lecturer's assistant at Esil University.

He has been in the UK since 14 February 2024. In 2025 he completed ESOL Level 1 at Westminster college in London — that is where, in the same class, he met Timur. He now works and volunteers in London.

From Assilzhan

Why I am here

I chose social work to help people in hard situations at the level of the system: most simply don't know their rights. The hardest thing for our people here is adapting, the language barrier and not knowing your rights. I went through it myself: people helped and guided me. Now I want to be that person for others — so you don't feel alone.

Don't be afraid to take the first step — that is how we reach our goal.
