Who is behind this
TIMUR NYGMETOV
Executive Director · Qadam London · Timur Nygmetov
Timur Nygmetov is the Executive Director of Qadam London, where he leads the project's strategic development, coordinates community initiatives, and oversees programmes designed to support people from Central Asia as they adapt to life in the United Kingdom.
His responsibilities include project planning, partnership development, community engagement, digital strategy, and the coordination of information and practical support services.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business and Management (Finance) from Esil University, Kazakhstan. He is originally from Astana.
He has lived in the UK since 2023 and went through the whole asylum process himself — from screening and the substantive interview to a positive decision from the Home Office: he arrived on 4 August 2023, claimed asylum on 10 November 2023, had his substantive interview on 2 April 2025, and the decision came on 17 November 2025. He is now studying immigration law in depth and preparing for a professional qualification in immigration advice.
He runs Qadam London so that clear information, verified contacts and community support are available to people from Kazakhstan and all of Central Asia — for free. He described his own two years of waiting on the page “When it is hard”.
